Milan is known as one of the shopping capitals of the world. Although high-end purchases can be made in any part of the city, several urban areas are also entirely given over to the business of luxury shopping.
First and foremost, the Quadrilatero della Moda, set amidst four of Milan’s most expensive and prestigious shopping streets, namely via Montenapoleone, via Manzoni, via della Spiga and corso Venezia. It is here that the most important fashion designers offer their luxurious creations.

Where Tip
Discover the “Fashion History Tour” by Zani Viaggi. Beyond the Quad itself, shoppers can visit other districts including the Duomo—Corso Vittorio Emanuele II-Galleria—via Dante area, Brera — via Solferino, with corso Garibaldi, corso Buenos Aires and the Vercelli- Belfiore-Marghera districts.

In the picturesque Brera district, at number 17 via Madonnina, a boutique entirely dedicated to prestigious brand ‘Creed, de père en fils depuis 1760′

Among one of the most important (and iconic) Haute Perfumerie brands, Creed has chosen via Madonnina, in the heart of Brera, to open its sought-after boutique, boasting artisanal scents made from precious ingrendients, a harmonious fusion of the past and the present, timeless signature scents imbued with an undeniable creative flair.

Boasting over 250 years in the industry, Creed has always known how to anticipate and create new trends, with totally unexpected fragrances that have gone down in history as several of the world’s most iconic essences.

Among these, particularly noteworthy are Royal English Leather (1781), Fleurs de Bulgarie (1845), Jasmin Imperatrice Eugenie (1870), Angelique Encens (1933), Fleurissimo (1972), Green Irish Tweed (1977) and Spring flower (1996), not to mention those created by its current owner Olivier Creed in collaboration with his son Erwin including Love in White (2006), the brand’s unique Aventus (2010) and special collections Les Royal Exclusives (2010-2011) and Acqua Originale (2014).

Creed’s secret weapon of success has always been based on word of mouth.

In fact, the maison’s customer portfolio includes illustrious names of the calibre of Winston Churchill, Humphrey Bogart, Frank Sinatra, Jackie Kennedy and Elvis Presley to mention but a few, starred testimonials of the exclusivity and beauty of the creations produced by this historic brand.

Shopping After observing an old Milanese tradition known as the ritual of the bull (grind your heel three times on a specific spot of the mosaic of the Bull positioned on the floor of the Galleria) you can indulge in some retail therapy by visiting the numerous (and, often, jaw-dropping) high-end boutiques that have taken up residence here (some years ago and some more recently). From the iconic Prada store to Versace’s latest gem, it’s impossible not to remain awestruck by the collections showcased in these spaces that tend to resemble museums rather than shops! In the Galleria, haute couture takes centre stage. In addition to the aforementioned Prada and Versace, other standouts include Louis Vuitton, Gucci, Armani, Borsalino, Luisa Spagnoli, Bric’s, Tod’s, Swarovski, Mercedes-Benz Spot, Stefanel and Massimo Dutti alternated with historic workshops (whose signs serve as an indication of their storied past), including Cadè (shirts and ties since 1926), Viganò Alta Moda (items for high fashion embroidery), Piumelli, renowned for its handmade gloves, Mejana, purveyors of time-honoured fountain pens and historic bookstores: Bocca, for art lovers, Libreria Poligrafico (Italian State Mint and Printing Institute) for coin collectors and the recently revamped Libreria Rizzoli Galleria: three floors all dedicated to the printed word! Dining You say ‘aperitivo’ and you immediately think of Camparino in Galleria, a landmark location and a reference point where Milan’s elite meet to partake in one of Italy’s oldest social traditions! For those in search of a taste of tradition, located just nearby is Luini (renowned for its one-of-a-kind “panzerotti”).
Shopping

After observing an old Milanese tradition known as the ritual of the bull (grind your heel three times on a specific spot of the mosaic of the Bull positioned on the floor of the Galleria) you can indulge in some retail therapy by visiting the numerous (and, often, jaw-dropping) high-end boutiques that have taken up residence here (some years ago and some more recently).

Dining

You say ‘aperitivo’ and you immediately think of Camparino in Galleria, a landmark location and a reference point where Milan’s elite meet to partake in one of Italy’s oldest social traditions! For those in search of a taste of tradition, located just nearby is Luini (renowned for its one-of-a-kind “panzerotti”).
Conversely, those favouring a more soughtafter gourmet experience can either opt to eat at Ristorante Galleria where you enjoy a taste of Milanese food and hospitality, at Savini (see the main photo), located at the first floor of the Galleria or Il Marchesino lying adjacent to Teatro alla Scala, presided over by Gaultiero Marchesi, one of Italy’s most revered chefs.
For the more ‘fashion oriented,’ a top-notch address is Ristorante Trussardi alla Scala located just moments away. And then again, if your idea of bliss is an unrivalled view over piazza Duomo a sure-fire choice is Giacomo Arengario, the restaurant of the Museo del ‘900.

Around the corner

If after visiting all the boutiques in the Galleria, you still haven’t had your fill of shopping, we recommend several truly unique addresses located just a stone’s throw away. For the ultimate one-stop shopping experience look no further than la Rinascente (under the arcades): an amazing array of fashion items under just one roof! Just a little further one, the window displays of Rocca 1974 will seduce you with their collections of several of the world’s most desirable jewelry and watch brands, a perfect blend of passion, dedication, know-how and luxury.
If you’re in search of a special souvenir, head to Pettinaroli in piazza San Fedele. Founded in 1881, its antique prints are still an absolute ‘must’! Outliving (in via Agnello) offers a storefront packed with items for outdoor living, leisure time, holidays, travel and the home… and, if after all of this you realize that you might have gone over the top with your purchases and thus need an extra suitcase, Rimowa (in piazza San Fedele) offers some of the best travel luxury in the industry!

In the heart of Brera, well-known Florentine designer Angela Caputi presents her new exclusive collection for
the 2014 Fall/Winter season, the perfect accessory for each and every outfit

Angela Caputi Giuggiù’s innovative, elegant jewels are the perfect addition to the wish list of every woman: those who appreciate simplicity will simply love the “Square” line, featuring geometric shapes and decorations while more exuberant types will be seduced by the appeal of the “Fume” line, whose transparencies and shades of grey meld harmoniously with deep carmine.
Also known by the nickname Giuggiù, the Florentine designer has become a byword across the globe. Her stunning creations have been showcased at several of the most important museums worldwide including the Metropolitan Museum in New York, the Museo degli Argenti and the Museo del Costume in Florence.
For more than forty years, countless sources of inspirations have stimulated and continue to stimulate the designer including, first and foremost, her love of 20th century American movies. In particular, Angela Caputi has a passion for “Gangster Movies” whose stage costumes have always appealed to her: elegant, brightly-colored and sparkling, in total contrast to the simple, low-key garments and settings typical of the neo-realist movement which influenced Italian cinema during that era.
The designer has revisited and upgraded her own personal concept of costume jewellery, transforming her creations into real fashion accessories and introducing Italians to a completely new genre far removed from the idea of fake jewellery. The creative heart of Angela Caputi’s bijoux is her workshop in Oltrarno, located in the picturesque district populated by Florentine artisans. Each piece is assembled by hand in full respect of tradition and the true concept of Made-in-Italy craftsmanship. The combination of typical working techniques and the use of modern materials, including synthetic resins, makes these objects authentic expressions of contemporary art.
